They are planning to ban ice cream trucks from going into areas where there are schools. I think this is really stupid, why do they want to stop up from having any nice tasting things all together?

What? Where is this? Just like banning pop in schools. I don't know about you, but I think parents are the ones to teach their kids good eating habits. While in favor of living more healthy, I really hate that people are making the decisions for us.

I could understand the safety reasons of not having ice cream trucks around schools. Not only are there little ones running around, especially before or after school, but there are perverted people out there posing as good ice cream sellers, luring kids to their doom. It's happened here in Phoenix before, and it was shocking to find out that it wasn't that far from where I used to live. So it doesn't seem too pointless to me in that aspect. But Gurl's got a point: It should be the parent's responsibility to teach their kids that a whole bag of oreos is not healthy, that an apple would be much better instead. The schools here are like that too. No candy, no soda, no chips, etc. You're not even allowed to send your kid to school with a packed lunch! Heaven forbid Mom should slip in one cookie!

NO WAY! They can't pack a lunch for their kids? I hope they have a good and CHEAP lunch program for those who can't afford it. sheesh. I'm sorry, but no one is going to tell ME what my kid can and can't eat. They can rid the machines, their property, their choice (though part of me is kinda pissy with that since many people pay taxes that go into our schools). However, forbidding a parent to send their child with their own lunch is ridiculous. I swear, I can see it now. I'll be in the school office more than my kids! HAHA As far as the pervs posing as the truck drivers... Shame on them! And who in their right mind would go through so much trouble to get kids like that? That's scary.
