I cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong when I make floors. Everytime I upload my floor from HomeCrafter, it originally looks like this (in HP) However, while I'm in the game, it looks gross and dark. I save the original image as a .bmp (24 bit) in Adobe photoshop, and the file is in the RGB mode. Yet it looks like this: Can anyone tell me what's going on? Other people's floors looks awesome. But mine...

Wow, I'm not completely sure. I would have said sizing, but they look fine, they just look dark. They're supposed to be bmp and in RGB mode. I'm opening up homecrafter to see if I can spot something I'm not right now. hang tight--

Thanks, sweetie. This issue has been holding me back. I've been antsy to make floors as I downloaded an awesome plug-in called QuickTile found here: www.btinternet.com/~cateran/simple/Walls turn out great, yet then something foul happens when I try floors. Gar!

do me a quick favor? Try making a floor without using that plugin and see what you come up with....

I'll try. But I don't think it has to do with the actual plug in, as my ground covers use that plug in and they look just fine. However, I'll make just a simple white one to see how it goes. Do you think that it could be because the original images I used were from the web? That would so totally stink if it did.

Nope. This was as white as snow. Although, I just discovered that--when I open up the previous tile from above--and look under Image-->Mode in Photoshop, the 8-bit channel is selected, and now the 16-bit channel is available to choose when it was not before. Interesting.

well, 8 bit channel should be okay. I opened up one of mine and it says 8 bit under mode. It's bmp, it's rgb... hmmmm when you save the 24 bit is checked for depth right? There is some kind of glitch going on with your homecrafter. Can you send me the bmp and I will make a floor and see how it turns out.

I figured out the problem! I found a thread on MTS2 about a similar problem. Apparently the transparent floor tiles were part of the issue, on top of my HomeCrafter being out of date. So I deleted all my personally made floors (just to be sure) and all of the transparent floor tiles, plus converted my Downloads folder to a non-read-only folder. And all is well now! Hooray! The thumbnails are a little dark, but my floors look great in game! Hooray! Wahoo! ;D Thanks Gurl-y, for trying that one floor for me. Feel free to use it however you wish!

if you want to fix the thumbnails, they're stored in your My Documents folder... if you delete them, the game will remake them.

I thought there was more than one, check this folder: C:\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Thumbnails
